Today I bring you a recipe that never fails, and this is the quintessential Blauver breakfast that combines tradition, health, flavor and simplicity: toast with fresh spirulina. This breakfast is not only easy and delicious, but it is also packed with nutrients that will give you the energy you need to start your day off on the right foot.

Why Fresh Spirulina?

Fresh spirulina is a microalgae that contains phycocyanin, rich in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which help improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood glucose levels. In addition, fresh spirulina is rich in protein and fiber, which helps slow down the absorption of sugar in the intestine and prevents glucose spikes after meals. This makes it an essential ingredient for those of us who want to take care of our health.

Ingredients

To prepare this nutritious and delicious Blauver breakfast you will need:

  • Whole wheat bread: 2 slices (whole wheat bread is an excellent choice because its fiber helps keep blood sugar levels stable).
  • Cream Cheese: to taste.
  • Avocado: 1 ripe avocado (rich in healthy fats that help stabilize glucose).
  • Fresh Spirulina: 1 serving of fresh spirulina
  • Cherry Tomato: 4-6 units (they provide vitamins and antioxidants).
  • Extra virgin olive oil: 1 tablespoon.
  • Salt and pepper: to taste.

Instructions

  • Prepare the Bread:

    • Toast the whole wheat bread slices until golden and crispy. You can do this in a toaster or in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Prepare the Cream Cheese with Spirulina:
    • Add the fresh spirulina to the cream cheese using the Thermomix until it is well incorporated or you can also do it manually by mixing the two ingredients with a spoon. You will see how the spirulina will give a vibrant blue-green color to the cream cheese.
  • Prepare the Avocado:
    • Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit and start cutting the avocado in a row. Then, with a tablespoon, remove the thin slices that you have cut.
  • Assemble the Toasts:

    • Spread the cheese and spirulina mixture over the toast.
    • Add the avocado slices on top of the cream cheese.
    • Wash and cut the cherry tomatoes in half and place them on top of the avocado.
    • Drizzle with a little extra virgin olive oil.
    • Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Garnish and Serve:

    • If desired, sprinkle some chia or sesame seeds on top for added crunch and even more nutrients.

These toasts are a great way to start your day as they are easy to prepare, delicious and very nutritious. Plus, their ability to help regulate blood sugar makes them an ideal choice for everyone, especially those looking to keep their glucose levels stable. We are sure you will love them.
